Up, Up, and Away With Twenty- One Balloons and Much Much More!!!

The fifth grade literacy event was a “flying” success!!!!  We welcomed many parents, grandparents, school board members, and guests, and they joined us for some “soaring” adventures as we shared the things that we learned and discovered during the third quarter of school.

  • We FLEW across the globe as we shared the adventures of Professor William Waterman Sherman, as he attempted to travel around the world in a hot- air balloon, but became stranded on the volcanic island of Krakatoa.
  • We EXPLODED our model of Krakatoa, and hopefully will be able to share that on video soon.!
  • We  SANG praises to the Lord as we shared our love of history and music by performing our rendition of “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God “, written by the leader of the Protestant Reformation; Martin Luther.
  • We CALCULATED and showed  our math expertise with our parents and guests, as we had them enter the world of geometry through “Camelot Circumference Flippers”.
  • We RELATED many Bible verses to concepts taught in our novel, The Twenty- One Balloons, and also shared how memorization of lengthy verses of scripture should be something that all Christians do,and how as Christians, we want to be able to retrieve passages as we live our daily lives and as we witness to others.
  • We TRAVELED around the world through the sharing of our research projects about foreign countries.
  • WE COOKED and ATE international foods from the recipes we researched.

We send out a huge “THANK YOU” to everyone who attended our event and shared in our fun!  Here are a few pics:
