During our first week in fifth grade we explored the concept of letting our lights “shine” for the Lord. We studied the meaning of Matthew 5:16 and applied its meaning to our lives. We did a lot of brainstorming about this concept and wrote paragraphs about ourselves, sighting specific examples of how our light can “shine”.
We also constructed our “Shine Puzzle” depicting our own unique gifts, interests, and talents. We studied 1 Corinthians 12:4- 12 and learned about how God uses our diverse gifts to help us become cohesive and bond together for His glory.
Check out the picture of the giant puzzle we constructed.
Our new Promethean (Smart Board) has been a great addition to the classroom. We used it for a cool math activity called “Find Someone Who Can…” We also explored the many different colors that could be used on it to differentiate our language concepts.
In History and Geography we began our study of continents, ocean locations, relative location, and absolute location.
Stay tuned for more adventures in fifth grade as we begin our novel study of “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe”!
